Right to Persue and Copy of Relevant Materials

You may request view or copy of your interview report or the relevant materials you submitted
※ This request, however, may be denied if there is a clear cause to believe that perusal or copying of those would materially hinder the fairness of assessment
Request of perusal and/or copying (copy)
Who Can Peruse or Copy : any refugee status applicant
※ The following documents are required when someone else makes a request on your behalf
* who can be a representative: - Your spouse, parent, child, grandchild—if minor—your litigation/legal representative or Specific Guardian under the Article 14-2 of the Civil Act
- Required documents ① When your spouse, parent, child or grandchild is your representative, documents proving the family relationship must be submitted. Only under unavoidable circumstances that such documents are not available, your mandatory will fill in a Family Information blank on an Application for Refugee Status Recognition for substitution and furnish a power of attorney and a copy of identification cards (both a mandator and a mandatory) as well. ② When a litigation or legal representative or guardian is your mandatory, a power of attorney, a copy of identification cards of both a mandator and mandatory, documents proving such relationship must be lodged
You need to submit an Application for Perusal or Copying (form in Annex No. 7. of the Enforcement Rule of the Refugee Act)
Be as clear and specific as possible what materials you wish to view. And you should indicate precisely which and how many pages you wish to copy
Fees
Fees specified in Article 7 of the Enforcement Rule of the Refugee Act must be paid via revenue stamps
※ 500 won per perusal/ For a copy, 50 won per page
Where to apply
To a designated place only. Note that the materials and other relevant documents are not allowed to be taken outside.
When you can apply
Immediately after submitting the required materials or completing an interview
When logistical problems or unexpected circumstances, including the malfunction of a copy machine, cause delays, the competent office will schedule another date
Limitations
Head of a regional immigration office and others may limit the right to peruse or copy in the following cases
  • if you repeatedly request perusal of the same material; or
  • if your request, such as duplication of an unreasonably high number of pages, would disrupt work of an immigration office
You will be given a fixed date or your copies will be distributed on different dates if your request, such as copy of an excessive number of pages materials, is deemed disrupting work process
The request may be rejected if there is a clear cause to believe that this would materially hinder the fairness of assessment
